Love and Thunder was born from a shared desire to tell real love stories with intentionality, artistry, and presence. We are a husband-and-wife photo + video team based in Hobart, Tasmania — not here to simply document your day, but to feel into it with you, to connect deeply, and to craft imagery that moves you. What begins as clients often becomes friendships, and every story we capture is treated with the same care we’d invest in our own family’s memories.
Your wedding day should feel like your day — not ours, not anyone else’s. That’s why we’re present without being intrusive, calm without being distant, and supportive without being prescriptive. We guide with confidence, observe with respect, and always put your comfort first — so the experience feels relaxed, joyful, and deeply personal.
Our galleries and films are meant to last well beyond the moment. They are crafted to be cherished — not just by you, but by your family, your children, and the generations that follow. Each photograph and frame serves as a reminder of how it felt to be truly witnessed — in love, in joy, and in all the beautiful moments in between.
Connection First
At the heart of everything we do is genuine connection. We believe the best images are created when trust is built, walls come down, and couples feel truly seen. Our clients aren’t just bookings — they’re people we care about, relationships we value, and stories we’re honoured to tell.
A Calm, Considered Experience
Weddings move fast. Our role is to slow things down. We bring a steady, supportive presence to every day we capture, guiding when needed and stepping back when it matters most — so our couples can stay present, relaxed, and fully immersed in their day.
Intentional Craftsmanship
We approach photography and film with purpose and precision. Every frame is created with care, technical excellence, and an instinct for emotion — resulting in refined, timeless imagery that reflects not just how the day looked, but how it felt.
Made to Last
What we create is more than a wedding gallery or film — it’s a legacy. Our work is designed to be returned to, shared, and cherished long after the day has passed, preserving moments that will only grow more meaningful with time.

Who Am I? The Rock & Roll Romantic
I’m the guy who researches everything, from the best way to brew coffee to the optimal route for getting to the airport three hours too early (because, let’s be real, I like winning at life). Once upon a time, I shredded guitar in a prog rock band, even sharing the stage with some of my idols, and now I capture epic love stories—same energy, fewer pyrotechnics and a suit instead of a leather jacket. While I might seem all cool and collected, deep down, I’m a total sap. If your vows are a tearjerker, I’ll be behind the camera, pretending I have “something in my eye.” Spoiler: It’s feelings.
My Karaoke Anthem?
Picture this: It’s been a long wedding day, I’m driving home, and suddenly, I’m in a full-blown solo concert. Do I nail every note? Nope. Do I perform with my whole heart? Absolutely. As a metalhead, I usually headbang to songs no one else has heard of, but when it’s karaoke time, I’m all about the classics, think Phil Collins, Fleetwood Mac, or Toto. Give me just enough drinks, and you might witness the most gloriously off-key version of Paparazzi by Lady Gaga ever attempted. No refunds.
What’s On My Screen?
I take my binge-watching very seriously. If it’s a TV show, it’s gotta be a feel-good comedy—Seinfeld, Parks & Rec, The Office, or Bob’s Burgers (because, obviously, Bob is my role model). But when it’s movie time? We’re talking big, dramatic, cinematic masterpieces—Christopher Nolan everything, The Dark Knight Rises, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars. Basically, if it’s got epic music and people dramatically staring into the distance, I’m in.
How I Spend My “Me” Time?
You’ll find me trying to lift heavy things, strumming my guitar (while subtly hinting to Nickki that I need a new one), or taking way too many photos of our four-legged family members. Gotta keep that shutter finger in shape!
Dream Holiday Destination?
We had an epic time in Canada in 2024, but if I could go anywhere with no limits? Iceland, hands down. A few weeks surrounded by jaw-dropping landscapes, northern lights, and waterfalls that look straight out of a fantasy movie? Yes, please.
Would I spend every waking moment with a camera glued to my hand, chasing the perfect shot? Absolutely. Would it actually feel like a holiday? Probably not—because while most people relax on vacation, I’d be sprinting across lava fields, setting up wide-angle shots, and whispering sweet nothings to my tripod. Worth it.

Who Am I? The Human Snickers Bar
If I were a chocolate bar, I’d be a Snickers—sweet, a little nutty, and best enjoyed frequently. (Also, yes, you can win me over with Snickers bribes. I have no shame.) Weddings make my heart happy, and getting to be part of so many incredible love stories? The absolute best. I’m an equal-opportunity pet lover—dogs, cats, you name it. If it’s fluffy and adorable, I’m obsessed (especially with our own furry overlords).
As for flowers? Look, receiving them is great (who’s saying no to surprise blooms?!), but recently, I’ve decided that growing my own is the goal. So now, I’m on a mission to turn our Tassie home into a full-blown flower farm. Will I succeed? Will Marty even notice before it’s too late? Stay tuned.
Where Would You Find Me on a Day Off?
What day off?! If I do get one, I’m either crafting up a storm (because Instagram made it look way easier than it actually is), lost in a book, or outside staring at my garden, contemplating how to break it to Marty that we need way more space for flowers. Spoiler alert: he never sees it coming.
Go-to Music Playlist?
Unlike Marty, I don’t need a karaoke bar to belt out a tune—I am always ready. Can I hold a note? Sure. Is it the right note? Ehhh, questionable. I’m a huge 80s pop and rock fan, but these days, my playlists are filled with Coheed and Cambria, The Dear Hunter, and of course, Toto (because Africa is a lifestyle).
Favourite Movie?
Picking one? Impossible. I’m a massive Star Wars and Marvel fan, I’ll always have a soft spot for Harry Potter, and when I need a good cry? Practical Magic. Marty insists it’s the acting. I insist he has no appreciation for 90s Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
Where Does Photographery & Videography Fit In?
If we traveled more (cough Marty, take notes cough), my camera would be permanently attached to my hands. I’m a sucker for wildlife photography and capturing the most magical wedding moments. The best part? That split-second when I turn to Marty mid-shot and yell, "OH MY GOD, DID YOU GET THAT TOO?!" Absolute perfection.
